The Village of New Albany

Overview

The Village of New Albany prides itself on being a safe community where there is strong interaction between our residents, businesses and police force.  Our 17-officer strong force will go the extra mile to keep you and your family safe, whether it's calling households when we see open garage doors, periodically monitoring your home while you're on vacation, teaching women's self defense classes, or taking children on tours of our new facility.  If you would like to arrange a tour for your group (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, pre-school, etc.), please contact us to set up a date and time.

Police Overview

Safety Town is another important outreach effort of the department.  Last year, a record 315 children graduated from this program which teaches children who are going into Kindergarten or 1st grade the basics of pedestrian and bicycle safety, school bus safety, animal safety, fire safety, water safety, and stranger awareness safety.  So often, we hear stories on the news about missing children.  We are pleased that our community has embraced this program so strongly. Click on "Safety Town" under "Programs" link  to the left for additional information.

If you are planning any kind of community-wide special event this year, please remember that you will need to apply for and receive a special event permit, and there may be costs associated with such an event.  More than 20 special events occurred last year.

Fire emergencies are part of our 9-1-1 response system, and we work closely with the Plain Township Fire Department, who provides fire and emergency medical service to village residents.

Our monthly police reports and our Annual Report available for you on this page.  Feel free to contact me at 614.855.1234 if you have any comments, suggestions or questions.

Sincerely,

Mark A. Chaney
Chief of Police
